Superman and Lois season 4, episode 7 introduces what may be the most shocking plot twist in the entire DC series, which is quite a feat considering this season has already seen Superman die and come back to life, as well as Jonathan gaining superpowers. The previous episode, season 4, episode 6, ended with Lex Luthor escalating his feud with the Kent family, so it’s surprising that the villain isn’t directly involved in the next episode. However, Lex’s influence is still strongly felt, driving the story forward in a huge way and creating a monumental moment for both the live-action Superman series and the broader Superman film legacy.

As expected, the CW series skillfully mixes its major moments with a variety of other storylines. Episode 7 even includes flashback scenes that offer more insight into Clark and Lois' time in Metropolis, while also introducing a new version of Jimmy Olsen to the Superman and Lois season 4 cast. For a long time, it seemed like the character might never make an appearance in the show, so this is a welcome addition. This helps the episode balance its huge plot twist with smaller, but still exciting, developments, creating a sense of continuity and stability for the series as it moves ahead.

Superman and Lois season 4, episode 7 picks up from the events of the last few episodes, exploring how even more people are starting to suspect that Clark Kent is Superman and that his sons have powers as well. The episode delves into the complex effects this has on the Kent family. One example is Timmy Ryan, the former Smallville Crows quarterback, who starts blaming the brothers' powers for his struggles on the field. In an effort to improve his performance, he turns to drugs to try and enhance his abilities.
