What's Trending: Tinubu Woos French Investors + Macron Delivers Speech In Pidgin
In France, President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu are currently visiting. President Tinubu has extended an invitation to French investors, declaring that Nigeria is open for business.
Speaking at a joint briefing with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to fostering a favorable environment for investors.
His remarks aimed to reassure investors and strengthen economic cooperation between Nigeria and France.
After the joint briefing, Arise News correspondent Adefemi Akinsanya had the privilege of speaking with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and French President Emmanuel Macron.
When President Tinubu was asked if he felt cold, he responded, and I quote, “I brought sunshine from Nigeria.”
President Bola Tinubu and his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, exchanged jovial greetings in Pidgin English on social media on Thursday.
In a post written in Pidgin on his X handle, Macron appreciated Tinubu for his visit. He wrote:
“Na big honor for France, dear President Bola Tinubu @officialABAT, to welcome you for dis State visit as one big partner and friend of today and tomorrow.
“E still dey sweet me well well as I remember say I be young intern for French Embassy for Nigeria that time.”
The French President during the states dinner also delivered part of his address in pidgin.
A French band delighted attendees at a state dinner in Paris on Thursday by performing P-Square’s hit song “Testimony (Taste the Money)” and Mama Africa by Bracket in honor of President Bola Tinubu.
In a now-viral video, the band delivered a vibrant rendition of the Afrobeat classic, seamlessly blending Nigerian rhythms with a French flair.
Nigerian singer Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa, also gave a remarkable performance with her live band as she sang “Eye Adaba” for President Bola Tinubu in France.
The federal government on Thursday launched free CNG bus rides in Abuja, aimed at easing transportation for residents. The initiative, which will run until January 6, will provide free rides on popular routes across the city.
The buses will operate along key routes including Mararaba to Eagle Square, Berger bus stop,
Mararaba to Area 1, and Zuba.
According to reports from the #PBATmediacenter, there are plans to expand the project to include inter-state commuter services, as part of efforts to mitigate the effects of subsidy removal on the public.

In Osun State Governor, where the governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke, distributed relief materials to 10,000 Persons Living with Disabilities on Tuesday.
The event, held at Nelson Mandela Freedom Park in Osogbo, follows his initiative to enroll people with disabilities into the Osun Health Insurance Scheme.
Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and improving the welfare of disabled people. Meanwhile, on that same day, Adeleke and former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, commissioned a new project in Osogbo, the state capital. During the event, Adeleke showcased his dancing skills on stage as always.
